Our Team
Sam Anderson
Partner / Founder
Sam has always been enthralled by the performing arts and captivated by technology. He created EmptySpace Technology to merge theses two specialties and build internet and mobile applications created specifically for arts organizations.
Sam has worked in the entertainment industry as a Stage Manager and in the technology industry as an application designer. He enjoys spending whatever time is left after all of that with his wife and three boys.
Sam is a member of Actors’ Equity (AEA) as well as the United States Institute of Theatre Technology (USITT).
Jason McDaniel
Partner
Jason has spent more than 30 years working in professional, community, and academic performing arts organizations as a production manager, technical director, educator, and mentor. Based in Missoula, Montana, he currently serves as Director of Production and Public Events for a university’s College of Arts and Media, where he supports productions, public events, inventory systems, and the education of future theatre professionals.
His work with artists, students, and production teams directly informs the development of the tools and services created by EmptySpace Technology, helping ensure they remain practical, collaborative, and rooted in the real-world needs of arts organizations.
When he’s not working on productions or software, Jason and his wife enjoy exploring the outdoors and experiencing the arts from the audience’s perspective. An avid whitewater rafter, he believes many of the lessons that make a successful river trip—preparation, communication, adaptability, and teamwork—are the same qualities that make successful productions and organizations.
Jason is a member of the Production Managers Forum (PMF) and the Stage Managers Association (SMA).
